Radha Damodar Mandir - Vrindavan

Vrindavan Dham Seva

A Vrndavan Dham Seva Plan has recently been put in place to renovate certain facilities at the Sri Sri Radha Damodar Mandir, to create a lush garden atmosphere around the samadhi and bhajan-kutir of Srila Rupa Goswami, and to construct the Sri Rupanuga Para-Vidya-pitha as desired by Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Vrndavan Dham Seva
The first phase of the plan began in May 2003 with the installation of a new bore-well in the courtyard of Srila Rupa Goswami’s samadhi. The digging was successful and the well now supplies enough water (sweet water) for irrigation of the gardens and drinking by all the devotees.

The next phase of renovations began in June 2003 with a complete reconstruction of the old rasoi-ghar (kitchen) and pangat-ghar of the temple. All offerings for Sri Sri Radha Damodar are cooked in the kitchen and after the Deity has accepted the offerings the Six Goswamis are then offered prasadam in the pangat-ghar.

The kitchen was fitted with marble floors, tiled walls, a wash-basin, exhaust fans, screen doors and a commercial grade stainless steel stove with five burners. The construction in the kitchen was completed in September 2003.

Following the completion of the new kitchen the reconstruction of the samadhi and bhajan-kutir of Srila Rupa Goswami is underway. Then a large mandapa (kirtan Hall) will be built between the samadhi of Srila Rupa Goswami and his bhajan-kutir. The mandapa will connect to both the samadhi and the bhajan-kutir.

Outside the mandapa elaborate gardens and a medium size pond are being planned. To this end the complete courtyard of Srila Rupa Goswami will be enclosed with a monkey proof grill.

In the gardens near to the main temple a permanent stage for drama and lectures will be constructed as well as a removable rain covering over the main darshan courtyard.

Along the outer wall of the garden courtyard dioramas depicting the pastimes of Krsna in Vrndavana will be displayed as reminders to the pilgrims that Krishna’s pastimes are eternally present in Vrndavana.

Next is the construction of the Sri Rupanuga Para-Vidya-pitha, as desired by Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada desired his western disciples to construct the Sri Rupanuga Para-Vidya-pitha as a place of study and service for the followers of Srila Rupa Goswami. Now after almost three decades that work has at last been taken up by the disciples of Srila Prabhupada from Sri Narasingha Caitanya Math and all the Vaishnavas of Vrndavana are greatly appreciating this service.

In addition to the Sri Rupanuga Para-Vidya-pitha further living facilities are being expanded for the parampara sevaits of Sri Sri Radha Damodar headed by Acarya Sri Nirmal Chandra Goswami.

The construction and renovations at the Sri Sri Radha Damodara Mandir are being done by the devotees with the sole purpose of pleasing the Supreme Lord Sri Sri Radha Damodar and His eternal associates. This is indeed a rare opportunity for devotees to engage in devotional service to the Deity at Sri Radha Damodar Mandir and also to serve Sri Rupa Goswami, Sri Jiva Goswami, and Srila Prabhupada.

All the devotees of Sri Sri Radha Damodara, Sri Rupa Goswami, Sri Jiva Goswami, and Srila Prabhupada are requested to kindly offer their service donations towards the completion of the above sevas. Your contributions can be given to either Acharya Sri Nirmalchandra Goswami or Krsna Balarama Goswami at the Radha Damodar Mandir during Karttika season or whenever you are visiting Sri Vrndavana-dham. You may contact the Mandir via email: Dham Seva.

May the blessings of Sri Sri Radha Damodar and the Six Goswamis be with you.
